This photograph was taken from the repelling training tower located behind the 549th barracks. The first page photograph was snapped from atop the water towers, which are seen here in the far right corner.

My name is Gary Wilson and during the early 70's I was drafted into the United States Army. Being a draftee at that time could have meant I was bound for Southeast Asia. However, as it turned out my life in the Army was spent living nineteen carefree months in Panama as a member of the 549th M.P. Company, then located on Fort Davis on the Atlantic side of the Canal Zone.

When I arrived there I knew I would do my duty as a soldier. I also knew that when my tour of duty was up, my time in the military would be complete. Therefore, being young, and living in a foreign country for the first time, I said to myself I was going to have as much fun here as I could enjoying all of the possibilities presented to me as a soldier in the Canal Zone.
